Hey, YOU.
Thanks for subscribing to my newsletter! It means a lot that you want to take this journey with me, and I can’t express how grateful I am that you’re taking the time to read this. That’s beyond cool. Seriously.
In this first issue of Because We Can, I wanted to break down what you can expect from this monthly newsletter going forward. It’s important to set expectations, as well as let you know what my goal is. Plus, once you know what you can look forward to, you can help provide feedback to make this newsletter even better than I could have imagined it could be.
First off, as noted above, Because We Can is going to be a monthly newsletter. I’ll aim to have a new issue in your inbox around the 15th of every month. If you’re using Gmail, if you click and drag this email from your “Promotions” tab to your “Primary” tab, you’ll be sure to never miss an issue.
Second, this newsletter is both a reflection on my personal journey as someone who writes and takes pleasure in the act of writing, as well as an email intended to inspire YOU to pick up your tools and use them for good. In my journey, I’ve found it’s extremely easy to let everyday stresses, upsets to our routine, bad news, and whatever else knock us down a peg and suck the creativity out of us. Especially when you’re taking this journey alone, it’s difficult to climb back up, dust yourself off, and tap into that wellspring of inspiration and creativity that lets you birth something beautiful in this world.
With that said, you can expect:
An anecdote or a dissertation on something that motivates me, as well as why. If you remember me from Literary Orphans, you’ll know that when I served as editor-in-chief, I tried to write my “Letters From The Editors” in a way that was encouraging and motivating.
Interesting articles or stories from around the web that I find interesting.
As my subscribers grow, I also plan to use this newsletter to highlight stories that are shared with me by creators like you. If you have an interesting anecdote, want to share a story/article of your own, or just want to send me a shout-out, please feel free to email at Swaldyn@gmail.com.
Lastly, I plan to share what’s going on in my neck of the woods. At the bottom of these newsletters, you’ll find links to articles/reviews I’ve written lately, as well as anything interesting I may have read that I couldn’t squeeze into the meat of the newsletter.
Please Be Aware, I write some pretty niche things sometimes. Beyond working on books/scripts and short stories, I’m the managing editor for TheBatmanUniverse.net, and I tend to write a lot of reviews for new comic issues on a pretty consistent basis. I’ll try not to overload my link section with all of the reviews I write on a weekly basis (just a couple). I know comics aren’t everyone’s jam. ;-)
That’s it! Quick and easy. Thank you again for joining me on this journey, and I will be emailing you soon.
